Telegärtner celebrating its 35th anniversary

News

Telegärtner Elektronik got its start 35 years ago as a subcontractor of Deutsche Telekom. Thanks to this know-how, the company was able to build up the TGE Group. It serves a wide spectrum with its solutions and services.

When Günther Brieger established the company in 1990, the main focus was on producing electronic products for Deutsche Telekom. The DoorLine produced by Telegärtner Elektronik made it possible for the first time in 1993 to react to a doorbell using a telephone.

Telegärtner Elektronik took over the product completely from Deutsche Telekom in 2003 and since then has developed it continuously. To date, over 500,000 DoorLine units have been sold.

By virtue of its longstanding cooperation with Deutsche Telekom, Telegärtner acquired extensive expertise and experience in the telecommunications sector. "This experience has proven to be extremely valuable and has been included in the development of our products and services for lift emergency calls," explained managing director Thomas Hopf.

"First, emergency call telephones were developed, later the company was a pioneer in lift emergency calls via mobile communications and consistently engaged in the further development of the product portfolio," Hopf emphasised.

As the TGE Group, the family company today employs about 110 employees together with the affiliates TG Services and Siwaltec.

TGE Group in other countries

TG-Services operates a VdS-certified emergency call service control room at the headquarters in Crailsheim along with a service centre in Dusseldorf and a despatch centre in Prague. Only VdS-certified experts are employed here, who also provide interventions, lift checks and service hotlines in addition to emergency call connections.

Depending on demand, lift builders and service companies can obtain the hardware exclusively from Telegärtner Elektronik or make use of the services of the control room in addition. These services are not restricted to Germany. The group’s products and services are also available in other countries, such as Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.

The Siwaltec affiliate, established in 2008, handles SIM card management for mobile emergency call solutions, IoT applications and sanitary systems.

Thanks and the employees

"The fact that as a family company we have succeeded in developing from a subcontractor of Deutsche Telekom into a company whose solutions are used throughout the world from the Federal Chancellery in Berlin, skyscrapers in Paris and China to canal locks in the Panama Canal fills us with pride," Thomas Hopf said in review of the company’s development.

"This would not have been possible without the tireless devotion of our employees. Without doubt, we have our employees to thank for the fact that we can celebrate our 35th anniversary."

Cross-manufacturer platform: To accelerate the digitalisation of the lift sector, Telegärtner Elektronik has expedited the Lift-Link initiative in recent months. About half the lifts installed in Germany are over 40 years old. Even where digital systems are already in use, the associated cloud solutions are usually restricted to the respective manufacturer.

The Lift-Link platform is intended to help lift and service companies, planners and operators to monitor all of their lifts. The aim is also to make it possible to monitor lifts of different manufacturers in a single cloud.
