Environmental certificate for the door producer

The Munich door manufacturer Meiller Aufzugtüren GmbH has been able to take receipt an environmental certificate for the first time. This was preceded by an audit by an accredited environmental assessor.

The environmental assessor subjected the newly established environmental management system to a comprehensive examination and arrived at the conclusion, “This organisation applies an environmental management system according to EC Regulation no. 1221/2009 and EN ISO 14001: 2009 section 4 for continuous improvement, regularly publishes an environmental declaration, has the environmental management system and environmental declaration assessed by a licensed, independent environmental assessor, is entered in the EMAS Register and is therefore entitled to use the EMAS logo.”“

Measuring the environmental effects of companies

HandwerkThe international EN ISO 14001 environmental management standard sets worldwide acknowledged requirements for an environmental management system and serves as the basis for EMAS. EMAS is the abbreviation for Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, also known as eco audit and applies worldwide as the most sophisticated system for environmental management. It was developed by the European Union and is a community system for environmental management and environmental operation testing for organisations that want to improve their environmental performance.

The goal of EMAS is to measure the environmental effects of companies and improve them in the interests of sustainable development. This is not only about active protection of the environment, but also achieving an improvement in ecological efficiency through sustainable measures and boosting the economic and ecological performance of companies and organisations.

Apart from its quality management system, certified for many years according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2008, Meiller now also sees the award of the EMAS certificate as a successful confirmation of its constant efforts for active and sustainable environmental protection.
