David Cooper is CIBSE President Elect of the “Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers” (CIBSE) for the 2025/26 term.

David Cooper is CIBSE President Elect of the “Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers” (CIBSE) for the 2025/26 term.
As an engineer with over 40 years of experience in the lift and escalator industry, David brought unparalleled expertise and leadership, advancing its mission to champion safe, sustainable and high-performing built environments, according to the CIBSE press release.
According to his LinkedIn profile, David Cooper began his career as an apprentice with the British Railways Board before joining the lift manufacturer KONE. His further positions included: engineer surveyor and trainer at the risk management service provider British Engineering Services and CEO of the consultancy LECS (UK), for which he has worked for more than 30 years.
He is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Northampton and a Fellow of several prestigious engineering institutions. David Cooper was a member of the Board of Management of the CIBSE from May 2020 to March 2024. He has been Vice President of the Association since June 2022.
"Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about driving innovation and safety in the lift and escalator industry, while mentoring the next generation of engineers," David Cooper revealed.
He felt honoured to step into the role of President Elect and looked forward to working with CIBSE to support the industry’s evolution towards net zero and excellence in the built environment, in the words of David Cooper MBE.
