KLST is operating under a new name

News

Detlef Klinkhammer Steuerungen und Komponenten für Aufzüge GmbH (KLST) has changed its name. The new name is intended to signal that the company is repositioning itself and aims to adopt a stronger international focus.

Detlef Klinkhammer Steuerungen und Komponenten für Aufzüge GmbH is becoming KLST Lift Systems GmbH. The company, based in Zülpich (North Rhine-Westphalia), announced this on 5 November 2026. The new name is intended to highlight the shift from being purely a components manufacturer to a provider of comprehensive data infrastructure for lifts.

Open data connectivity

According to KLST Lift Systems, open data connectivity is at the heart of this reorientation: All of the company’s lift control systems are now designed to provide operational data via gateways. Operators and service partners can import this data directly into their own systems or analyse it via dashboards in the cloud. "This makes the condition, availability and maintenance requirements of lifts transparent and predictable," states a press release.

"Lifts are the key means of vertical transport. They transport millions of people every day, generating valuable data in the process," says Markus Labruier, who has been managing the company as Managing Director since 1 October 2025 (see also the online article ‘Three Questions to … Markus Labruier’). "With KLST Lift Systems, we are making this data accessible and connecting the lift to today’s smart building and tomorrow’s connected city. The new name reflects what we stand for: systems rather than individual components, developed in Germany and geared towards international markets."
