French lift association demands postponement of 2G and 3G termination

In France, 2G and 3G are scheduled to end at the end of 2026 and 2029 at the latest respectively. The Fédération des Ascenseurs (FAS) is pleading for the shutdowns to be postponed for at least two years.

Deutsche Telekom announces 2G shutdown

Telekom is the first mobile telecommunications provider to announce the date for the planned shutdown of its 2G network in Germany. It is expected to have been removed from the network completely by 30 June 2028.

Obituary Ali Aktaş

Ali Aktaş passed away on 11 September in Izmir. The founder of the Turkish lift, escalator and moving walkway manufacturer Löher was 84 years old. He was active in the company until 2022, most recently as Honorary President.

Fibre-optic expansion puts British lift operators under pressure

The UK is converting its landline network from analogue to digital. The copper cables will probably be cut for good at the beginning of 2027. By then, the emergency call systems of lifts must also be converted.
