Spanish company declares itself market leader in Ireland
Fain Ascensores has taken over the Irish lift builder Accel. As a result, the Spanish company is responsible for over 8,500 lifts on the Emerald Isle and according to its own information had “for the first time assumed market leadership in a country outside of Spain in the company’s history.”
Fain has been operating on the Irish lift market since the beginning of the 2020s. In 2021, Otis Ireland and West of Ireland Lift Services were taken over first. This was followed in the summer of 2025 by the purchase of TKE Ireland (see Issue 4/205, online article "TKE Ireland now belongs to Fain"). As a result, the Spanish company group with a market share of almost 20 percent has been able to establish itself as the second biggest provider of lift maintenance in Ireland.
By taking over the lift installation and maintenance company Accel (the company based in Dublin was established in 2000, employs 22 staff, including 11 engineers and currently services about 1,600 lifts) and with a total portfolio of over 8,500 lifts, Fain had now assumed the market leadership, according to a blog entry on the Fain website.
Accel is joining Doyle Lifts (this company was taken over by the Fain Group in 2023) but will continue to exist under its own brand. Together both companies service more than 3,000 lifts across the country. The company’s founder David Bourke will remain the CEO. Accel and Fain Ireland will work independently of each other but make joint use of company services, technology and products.
"Ambitious expansion plan"
The Fain Group describes business in Ireland as part of its "ambitious expansion plan in Europe". In the previous year alone, the group had carried out 15 acquisitions in Spain and the rest of Europe. Fain currently operates in Spain, Ireland, France, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Denmark.
The company group employs about 1,500 people and is aiming for sales of 260 million euros for 2025 and in the current year of over 300 million euros, according to the Spanish Europa Press news agency.
