Redesign of the “xPack”: Flexibility meets plug & run

News

Whether for new installations or modernizations, the xPack from Bucher Hydraulics is intended to ensure that the planning, installation, and service of lift projects are significantly faster and simpler.

The product has undergone a redesign to make it compatible with any lift controller. With the xPack, Bucher Hydraulics is introducing a drive system that combines the hydraulic power unit and lift controller into a tested, complete solution.

"For lift manufacturers, this creates a true Plug & Run system that can be installed with ease while still offering full freedom of choice in the control system," emphasized the company, which also produces hydraulic drive systems.

What makes the xPack unique is the close collaboration between three players: Bucher Hydraulics supplies the power unit, leading control system manufacturers provide their controllers, and the lift company installs the complete system. With complete solutions from other suppliers, controller and power unit are inseparably linked – whereas with the xPack, lift manufacturers are free to choose their controller. They can combine their preferred control system with Bucher’s power unit.

Easy integration

The xPack is preassembled and tested at the factory. Electrical and hydraulic checks ensure that the system is ready for operation upon delivery. No additional wiring, parameter settings, or software adjustments are required. As a result, the effort is reduced significantly. Installers and commissioning engineers benefited from clearly documented interfaces and fast, reliable installation, emphasized the manufacturer.

Thanks to its compact design, the power unit can be integrated even in tight machine rooms or lift pits. Despite its small dimensions, the system delivers full hydraulic performance for modern passenger and freight lifts, according to Bucher Hydraulics. Depending on requirements, the controller can be mounted directly on the power unit or installed externally in the control cabinet. Open interface architecture ensures smooth operation with a wide variety of control solutions.

Collaboration with leading control system manufacturers

Bucher Hydraulics works with a number of well-established partners. These include Kollmorgen, KW, Hübschmann, Strack, Kühn, Lester Controls, DAC Controller, and TVC Controller. Thanks to this close cooperation, lift manufacturers can use exactly the controller they prefer.

According to Bucher Hydraulics, the power unit integrated seamlessly, with no additional adjustments required. "As a result, the xPack offers broad compatibility and supports operators who are already accustomed to a specific brand of controller."

Procurement, coordination, and engineering are greatly simplified, since the controller and hydraulics are designed to work together from the start. Spare parts, documentation, and support are available from a single source, either directly through Bucher Hydraulics or via the respective control system partner. Bucher Hydraulics is accountable for the hydraulic power unit, while control partners each take responsibility for their systems. "This avoids interface conflicts, and in the event of service needs, customers will receive rapid, expert support."

The xPack: The xPack from Bucher Hydraulics is a complete drive system for hydraulic lifts. It combines the hydraulic power unit and the lift controller. Close collaboration between Bucher Hydraulics, leading control system manufacturers, and the lift company results in a customized, ready-to-install solution. The "x" in the name reflects the freedom to choose the controller manufacturer.
