New tool for control-independent parameterisation

News

Kübler now has a new tool available to ensure that the implementation process at control manufacturers will in future be easier and faster.

Parameterisation of the shaft copying system can take place independently of the controller with the so-called smart teaching unit (STU).

Digitalisation in the lift sector is picking up speed. Smart sensor systems are making an important contribution to this. This includes the shaft copying systems of Kübler. Whether in the field of condition monitoring, predictive maintenance or replacing traditional shaft installations: today, there is no way of avoiding an absolute positioning system.

SIL3-certified sensors for 100 percent non-slip recording of absolute position values of the car establish the basis for making many components in the lift superfluous - when combined with SIL3-certified evaluation units, the so-called position supervisor units. This does not just save installation time, space and costs. Intelligent sensor systems also make an important contribution to making lifts even safer and smarter.

Digital duplicate of the lift is created

Kübler’s shaft copying system Ants LES02, when combined with the evaluation unit PSU02, provides an SIL3-certified shaft copying system for realising lift and safety functions according to EN 81-20/21/50. For example, mechanical limit switches or door zone magnets can be digitally emulated.

Whereas a multitude of switches used to be installed as position reference systems, today all that is needed is a single learning operation by the evaluation unit. In short, a digital duplicate of the lift is created.

Position values for limit switches, flush positions or the length of door zones can for example be parameterised via CAN commands. This involves the position values being transmitted down to the last millimetre by the SIL3-certified sensor system Ants LES02 via a secure transmission protocol on CAN basis. Apart from the definite position, it also provides definite speed feedback.

New tool for implementation

Ideally, the parameterisation process is implemented in a CAN-capable controller. The control manufacturer integrates the so-called teach process of the evaluation unit directly in the control here. To ensure the implementation process at the control manufacturer is even simpler and faster in the future, Kübler provides a smart teaching unit (STU). As a result, the shaft copying system can be parameterised independently of the control unit.

To do so, the STU communicates via CAN with the PSU02 evaluation unit and in addition provides a WLAN network. The user can access this secured network with a mobile terminal. The local web browser opens a website, which the parameterisation of the PSU02 evaluation unit guides the user through visually.

For example, developers can quickly familiarise themselves with the functions of smart sensor solutions in order to implement them at the end in the controller. However, lifts that do not have any CAN-capable controller can also be retrofitted with Kübler shaft copying systems.

The tool fits into any bag

The tool also offers new options for modernisation, new installations and condition monitoring applications. The STU also features a wide range of diagnostic and condition information in addition to parameterisation. For example, the condition of the shaft copying system can be viewed in the field at any time and errors corrected directly. The contact data of the Kübler lift experts are also directly in the system in case support is needed after all.

If the shaft copying system has been parameterised or the condition information has been checked in the field, the connection between STU and PSU can be easily separated. The tool does not have to remain on the installation – it fits into any bag and supports lift builders and service technicians in their daily work.
