This lift carries the stairs with it
Doppler presented a new product category at interlift with ‘Elevante’. It combines a home lift with a staircase. The Greek lift manufacturer is targeting owners of single-family homes in north-western Europe as potential customers.

‘Elevante’ does not require a separate lift shaft; no demolition work, no floor cutting and, as a rule, no permits are required. ‘The system is designed to comply with all safety and building standards and only requires the existing staircase to be removed,’ emphasises the company from Polykastro in the Central Macedonia region.
Hydraulic platform lift
The patented system is a hydraulic platform lift in accordance with the Machinery Directive with a maximum load capacity of 250 kilograms. Part of the surrounding staircase structure is attached to the lift cabin.
‘The lift cabin is physically connected to the upper part of the staircase. When the cabin moves upwards, this upper section of the staircase moves with it, while the lower part of the staircase remains fixed. The result is a fully functional staircase when the cabin is parked on the ground floor,’ explain the technical experts at Doppler in response to a query from LIFTjournal.
Integrated safety equipment for the stairwell
The staircase cannot be used while the lift is in motion. However, after use or after a short period of inactivity, the lift automatically returns to the ground floor. ‘This ensures that the staircase becomes fully accessible again within the shortest possible time, maintaining its function as a compliant and usable escape route.’
In the event of a power failure, the lift will descend safely by gravity, regulated by a flow-limited hydraulic circuit, again restoring full stair access, according to Doppler. In addition, the system's integrated safety equipment in the stairwell monitors every movement on or near the stairs. ‘The system will not activate if motion is detected, and it will stop immediately if any such movement occurs during travel.’
With the minimum possible pit depth achieved with the lift serving two stops, the Elevante model can be fitted to every two-story home without the need of building a new shaft or fitting a steel structure. In addition to the home lift, Doppler also offers custom-made stairs and wooden walls that are matched to the lift and the stairwell.
