EN 81-40 has been harmonised

The European standard for safety rules for the construction and installation of inclined stair lifts and platform lifts with inclined track for persons with impaired mobility was harmonised in mid-October.

EN 81-40:2020 was published on 15 October 2021 in the Official Journal of the European Union L 366 and thereby harmonised. As a result of this legal instrument, application of EN 81-40:2020 triggers a presumption of conformity to the effect that the main health protection and safety requirements of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC have been met.

The transitional period for the previously valid standard EN 81-40:2008 has been extended to 15 April 2023.
