65 years Kübler Group: from one-man show to global player

News

This year, the Kübler Group will be celebrating its 65th anniversary – a special anniversary for a company that began as a one-man show in Schwenningen.

According to the company, it is today one of the worldwide leading specialists for industrial components for measurement, transmission and evaluation of signals and data.

Founded by Fritz Kübler in his parents’ home, the "Ing. Fritz Kübler Feingerätebau" developed into an internationally leading company with its headquarters in Schwenningen. Today, the Kübler Group comprises twelve subsidiaries, four production locations on three continents, a development centre of its own in Berlin and distribution and service partners in over 50 countries. The company has a worldwide presence, with over 600 employees.

Moving into sensor technology at the end of the 1990s was an important milestone. Kübler succeeded in steadily expanding its product range, supplemented by the expansion of slip ring technology and a strong customer orientation. The measurement, evaluation and transmission departments are the key sectors of the company.

Foundation with "clear vision"

The roots of the company go all the way back to 1960 when Fritz Kübler established "Ing. Fritz Kübler Feingerätebau" in the home of his parents. The first product created there was the short-time measuring device KM1, followed by electric meters, which laid the foundation for international success. Kübler already exported its products to the USA early on.

The company is currently under the management of Lothar and Gebhard Kübler in the second generation and will in future also remain a family-run business. "My father, Fritz Kübler, established the company with a clear vision: quality, innovation and customer-proximity. These values have accompanied us for over six generations and will guide us in the future too," explained Lothar Kübler, managing partner. Gebhard Kübler added, "Our state-of-the-art technologies enable us to take part in actively shaping the challenges of Industry 4.0 and to continue to develop forward-looking solutions."

Even after 65 years, Kübler remains loyal to its home: the headquarters of the internationally active company remains in Schwenningen - where the company’s history began.

Sensors and system solutions

In the following years, a small company in Otterfing near Munich was taken over, among others; this was the origin of the current slip ring system department. Today, the solutions for measurement, transmission and evaluation are used in many different applications and the customers come from all kinds of sectors, such as drive technology, lift technology, mobile automation, intralogistics and wind energy.

Kübler produced encoders from the outset for the lift sector. In view of the increasing demands due to digitalisation, the portfolio has been expanded from sensors and shaft copying systems to digital installation and diagnostic solutions.

According to Kübler, this mix provides stability. "We observe the sectors and their requirements very closely, which often enables us to develop new solutions and products in very close cooperation with the customers. This is one of our special strengths. For example, we launched the first encoder that protected production installations against cyber-attacks," reported Martin Huth, Distribution and Marketing Manager, and Gebhard Kübler. "Awards like ‘Top Job Employer’ or ‘Top Innovator' confirm the values and company culture lived within our family company."
