EU Machinery Regulation published

News

It had been announced for a long time, now the time had come: The Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (EU) on 29 June 2023.

The Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 replaces the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and comes into force on January 20, 2027, after a transition period of 42 months.

The transition period of 42 months is intended to give economic operators sufficient time to fulfil their obligations under this Regulation.

Limit value of the maximum speed will remain

Don't worry: EC type-examination certificates and product approvals issued or granted under the previous Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC will remain valid until their expiry date.

Again and again, it was discussed whether the limit value of the maximum speed for lifts according to the Machinery Directive will be changed. Now it is clear: it will remain at 0.15 m/s for lifts according to the Machinery Directive.

More information: The Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 has been translated into the 24 official languages of the EU. The document can be downloaded free of charge from the pages of the Official Journal of the European Union.
