Ziehl-Abegg recruits manager from Kuka

Wolfgang Mayer (50) has been the new technology director at Ziehl-Abegg since February. The graduate engineer had previously been employed for 27 years at Kuka, a provider of intelligent robotics, plant and system technology.

Initially, he filled various roles in application and software development. Later, the mechanical engineer headed robotics research and development in the Mechatronics Department, according to the Ziehl-Abegg press release. From 2020, he was the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Kuka Robotics.

Mayer internationalised the development work in his previous positions. For example, he developed and expanded the research and development departments in China, Hungary, Finland and the USA. "This experience will be of assistance to me at Ziehl-Abegg," explained the graduate of the Technical University Augsburg. Wolfgang Mayer was also an enthusiast for "smart product architecture".
