Langer+Laumann Group acquires majority stake in CPM and NDC

The Langer+Laumann Group has acquired a majority stake in the British company Complete Plant Maintenance Engineering Ltd. (CPM) and its subsidiary Northern Drives & Controls Ltd. (NDC).

The transaction is taking place as part of the existing partnership with its majority shareholder, Norvestor IX SCSp. CPM and NDC are UK-based providers of repair, replacement and support services with a particular focus on drive technology and power electronics for lifts, industry and solar.

Focus to remain on lift applications

"The investment brings additional expertise, enabling us to expand our technical capabilities in a targeted manner without abandoning our clear focus on lift applications," emphasises the German component manufacturer in a press release. The merger is intended to create an expanded platform in the European lift aftermarket with a stronger presence in the UK, continental Europe and the US.

Langer+Laumann’s core business remains the lift sector, the company explains. In addition, it already offers solutions for automated applications in the machine tools, windows and doors segments.

The merger is intended to enable:

• "a broader and more diversified range of solutions for the modernisation, repair and maintenance of lift systems, 

• additional technical expertise along the value chain of critical lift components,

• an improved international positioning of the affiliated companies,

• the exploitation of synergies in development, service and logistics to further improve availability, response times and service quality."

Together with CPM and NDC, the company is taking a "decisive step to further develop our range of services and strengthen our position in the European lift aftermarket in the long term", the press release continues: "At the same time, we are systematically expanding our existing business areas to offer our customers an even broader range of innovative solutions in the future."

The component manufacturer emphasises that the merger will not affect existing contracts, processes or contacts at Langer+Laumann. The usual business relationships and processes will remain unchanged.
