On 20 January 2026, Hans-Jürgen Lutz, former managing partner of Lutz Aufzüge, passed away at the age of 92.
"Lutz Aufzüge can now look back on almost 100 years of company history and, with 330 employees, is one of the leading medium-sized suppliers in the industry – a success that is inextricably linked to the work of Hans-Jürgen Lutz," according to the company's obituary.
He joined his father's company in 1958. As managing director, he shaped the development of the company for decades "with technical foresight and entrepreneurial courage," emphasised Lutz-Aufzüge.
Under his leadership, the company realised groundbreaking projects: from "what were then revolutionary group controls in public buildings to innovative drive solutions such as gearless Ward-Leonard systems." An important strategic decision made by the graduate engineer was to enter the market for ship lifts.
In 2005, Hans-Jürgen Lutz handed over the management of the company to the third generation. "My father loved lifts – and never lost that passion. He was enthusiastic, courageous and inventive," recalled Hans Martin Lutz, managing partner of Lutz Aufzüge.
"Lutz Aufzüge bows its head in deep respect for his life's work," the obituary concluded. "His dedication, his innovative spirit and his attitude will always remain an example to us."
