Deep learning for lift doors
Fermator is turning to artificial intelligence (AI) for the modernisation and maintenance of lift doors. The company is currently developing two strategic projects based on neural networks (deep learning).
According to the Spanish lift door manufacturer, Artificial intelligence has become a "key driver of innovation in the lift industry". The company aims to use AI to facilitate technological progress in the operation and control of automatic doors.

To do this, the product is first identified using a photo taken via the app. The platform then analyses the door’s characteristics and combines this information with historical and operational data.
Improve installation quality
Fermator also plans to integrate Artificial intelligence into its VVF7+ CAN system – "with-out adding new hardware or altering existing functions", the company assures. The solution analyses door behaviour, detects deviations as early as the installation phase and enables preventive maintenance throughout the door’s entire service life.
"The use of deep learning in these projects demonstrates how AI can meet the industry’s real-world requirements," Fermator stated in a press release. The combination of advanced data analysis and predictive models is intended to optimise modernisation processes, improve installation quality and make maintenance more efficient.
According to the company, the official launch of the app is planned for the first quarter of 2027, likely in January. The integration of AI into the VVF7+ CAN system is expected to be completed by the second half of 2027 – and thus "perfectly timed for interlift".
