Traction Media Innovations for new installations, modernization and service
At interlift 2025, wire, rope, and traction media specialist Gustav Wolf presented new solutions for elevator manufacturers and service providers. The focus was on innovations for new installations, modernization, and manufacturer-independent service of elevator systems.
"With targeted investments in new manufacturing technologies, we’ve laid the foundation to intelligently combine plastics and steel – setting new standards in traction media," explains CEO Jens Waldau.
According to the company, integrating high-performance plastics into steelbased traction media has led to new products with significant advantages in design, durability, and performance. This material combination enables customized solutions for modern elevator systems.
"FlatTrac" – new belt variants for Belt-Replacement
The FlatTrac series has been expanded:
• New flat variants for replacing 30 mm flat belts in widely used existing installations.
• A new version with a V-profile enables the replacement of profiled belts in a widely used elevator series from a major OEM.
"With these additions, we offer a manufacturer-independent solution in OEM quality, giving service providers easy access to all required traction media," says CTO Dr. Konrad Stahr.
"CoatTrac" – newly developed coated rope
With CoatTrac, Gustav Wolf introduces a newly developed coated traction rope. It offers maximum breaking strength and application-oriented certification that covers a wide range of applications. According to the company, CoatTrac opens up new possibilities for optimized system configurations in MRL applications.
"ElTrac" – Innovation for the High-Rise Challenge
For high-rise projects, Gustav Wolf presents ElTrac as a breakthrough innovation. This traction media was specifically developed to address the core challenges of wear and elongation in high- and super-highrise applications, as well as in the most demanding system configurations.
"Thanks to the intelligent material mix of high-strength steel and high-performance polymer, ElTrac sets new standards for vertical mobility in skyscrapers," emphasizes Dr. Konrad Stahr, CTO of Gustav Wolf.
"HyTrac 2.0" – for demanding applications
HyTrac 2.0 combines the strengths of two proven technologies: the performance of a full steel rope with the robustness and damping characteristics of a fiber core rope. Thanks to its high-strength fiber core, it offers a significantly improved strength-to-weight ratio – ideal for applications involving heavy loads, high travel heights, and complex motion profiles.
Both ElTrac and HyTrac 2.0 are retrofit-ready and can be integrated into both new and existing systems.
