New Chairman of the EK-ZÜS

News

Jörg Becker is the new chairman of the Experience Exchange Group of Approved Inspection Bodies (EK-ZÜS) in Germany. He succeeds Dieter Roas, who led the EK-ZÜS for over ten years.

The 64-year-old graduate engineer will continue to support the EK-ZÜS in addition to his previous duties at TÜV Süd Industrie Service and in various committees.

‘Dieter Roas has shaped the committee with great commitment over many years – we would like to thank him very much for that,’ emphasised Joachim Bühler, Managing Director of the TÜV Association. Jörg Becker has been working for TÜV Süd for over 20 years. The mechanical engineer started at TÜV Süd Industrie Service as an expert in nuclear technology.

Fit for the challenges of the future

In 2014, he took over as head of the Property Security and IT Security department, and in 2020 he became head of the Competence Centre for Cybersecurity. This year, the 46-year-old took over the overall management of TÜV Süd's Approved Monitoring Body and was elected chairman of the EK ZÜS. His goal is to make the ZÜS ‘fit for the challenges of the future.’

This includes ‘regulating more intelligently, integrating digitalisation in a meaningful way and further developing cybersecurity as an integral part of modern safety testing,’ Becker explained to LIFTjournal.
