Elevcon: Dr. Marja-Liisa Siikonen succeeds Ami Lustig

Dr Marja-Liisa Siikonen is the new Chairwoman and Programme Manager of Elevcon 2023, the 23rd International Congress of the International Association of Elevator Engineers (IAEE).

She succeeds IAEE President and Elevcon Congress Chair Ami Lustig, who passed away at the end of 2021, as well as IAEE Executive Committee Secretary and Board Chair Joseph Stier.

Marja-Liisa Siikonen became CEO of MLS Lift Consulting in Finland after 34 years with Kone Cooperation. She holds a Master of Science degree in Technical Physics from the Helsinki University of Technology. She later obtained Lic.Sc. (Tech.) and D.Sc. (Tech.) degrees in applied mathematics from HUT.

More than 250 patents

The 69-year-old holds more than 250 patents. At the end of 2021 John Wiley published her book "People Flow in Buildings".

Dr Siikonen has participated in Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) and CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) working groups and was the convenor of TC 178 WG6/SG5 for the development of ISO 8100-32:2021. She is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Northampton Symposium for Lifts and Escalators.
