“Attractive employer”: Grädler certified for the second time

News

For the second time in a row, Grädler Fördertechnik (GFT) GmbH has achieved certification as an “Attractive employer” of the “Great Place to Work” organisation.

This requires credible, fair management and active support of employees. The honour, which was awarded online on 6 May, has a time limit. GFT may only cite it from April 2021 to March 2022. After this, it must once again submit itself to the verdict of all parties involved. The company reached first place as "Best Employer Berlin Brandenburg" and third place in Germany as a whole as "Best Employer Small Companies".

"The certification is nothing for nine-day wonders: all parties concerned have to demonstrate a lot of commitment and activity," according to a press release of GFT. For example, employees are asked to take part in an anonymous survey. There they can name weak points unfiltered as well as good elements in their everyday work and as a result reinforce them.

The management level should then apply these suggestions and ideas to the organisation's processes and the corporate culture. The certification is intended to provide employers with impulses for further development. Twenty quality criteria, including such things as support, competence and internal company justice, are examined. For the most part, GFT achieved considerably more than 90 percent.

"Flashes in the pan are not what we’re about"

GFT’s management has good reason to promote its corporate culture, "As an employer in a sector that has no classic traineeship paths and which depends to a significant extent on the interest of our employees in further training and a high degree of commitment, we in particular have to take action. This is because only if we are attractive in the long term will we be able to retain our specialists and, crucially, also recruit new ones. This applies both to inhouse training as well as to talented, experienced people who want to try out a new career," explained managing director Detlef Malz.

It was already evident that GFT was maintaining these high standards. "Flashes in the pan are not what we’re about," Malz stated.

‘Great Place to Work’ describes itself as an international research and consultancy institute, which supports companies in about 60 countries in developing their work culture. Apart from helping to retain specialists, the certification is also intended to boost companies’ economic efficiency.
