Worldwide first lift with C2C certification

News

The "Move" of Mitsubishi Elevator Europe was especially developed for the European market and was completely designed according to the "cradle-to-cradle" (C2C) principle.

As a result, Mitsubishi Elevator Europe claims to be the first manufacturer in the world with a C2C-certified lift type.

As soon as the first lifts are in operation (Q1 2020), it will be possible to issue the Move an official C2C certificate, according to the company. The Move has a lean design and production process. Production of the lift is to consume over 25 percent fewer resources than the industry average. It is designed for low and medium-height residential and commercial buildings.

In line with recycling principles, the Move is designed to ensure that all components can be easily demounted. This means that the motto of the production and fitting process is "don’t weld, don’t glue." As a result, there is no definitive binding to components and recycling should be correspondingly easier.

Quality and low overall operating costs

HandwerkUnlike the existing Japanese Mitsubishi lift types, the Move is produced completely in the Netherlands and exclusively with European subcontractors. This is intended to contribute to minimising the environmental effects of the logistics processes underlying production.

Mitsubishi Elevator Europe is cooperating with all subcontractors to obtain an environmental product declaration (EPD certificate) by means of a comprehensive life cycle analysis.

"In an industry where what counts above all is the purchase price, fast replacement and turnover through high fluctuation rates, the Move is a product with which we distinguish ourselves - in harmony with Mitsubishi’s philosophy of orienting itself to quality and low overall operating costs," explained Evert Visser, Senior Managing Director of Mitsubishi Elevator Europe.

Intelligent lift

The Move should offer various energy-saving options (including energy efficiency class A). In addition, the lift possesses new technologies, such as modern sensor technology, which identifies data via over 700 parameters.

The idea is to prevent malfunctions and in addition increase the service life of individual components. Apart from this, this technology provides Mitsubishi with the option of configuring various aspects of the lift via remote control, which in turn cuts operating costs.
