Daniel Bisang (52) has been elected unanimously as the new convenor of the working group 1 “Lifts and service lifts” of CEN TC 10.
The work group is also responsible for the revision of EN ISO 8100-1/2. Daniel Bisang succeeds René Hermann, who retired at the end of 2024.
The Swiss mechanical engineer has worked in various positions for the Schindler Group for over 25 years and was most recently responsible for global and strategic product and project management for lift systems with belts.
Bisang has been head of the "Codes & Standards" department at Schindler since 2023. He is a member of the Swiss lift association VSA and represented the company in international lift committees, such as CEN/TC10/WG1 and ISO/TC178/WG4 and ISO/TC178/WG6.
"I want to contribute my knowledge in the worldwide implementation of codes and standards in the development of lift standards in work groups and my experience in the management of international teams," Bisang declared to the LIFTjournal.
He intended to lead WG1 with openness and transparency. This was because the lift and escalator industry needed "clear and concise standards, which are available promptly and can also be upheld with a reasonable effort in the future." Planning certainty was enormously important for the industry, according to Bisang.
