Lift weighing kits for Euromast lifts

News

Vebo Liftsupport was recently commissioned to renovate the lifts in the Euromast. Zemic was brought in for this project.

The renovation of the lifts in the Euromast was an exciting and unusual project. With a height of 185 meters, the Euromast is the highest tower in the Netherlands that is open to the public. From this tower you have a magnificent view of Rotterdam and the surrounding area.

There are a few lifts that take you to the viewing platform at almost 100 meters in a matter of seconds. With the Euroscoop lift you can then continue to a height of 185 meters. Both lifts had to be renovated.

Vebo Liftsupport had been coming to the Euromast for years, where it did weekly maintenance on the Euroscoop. The Euroscoop looks like a lift but is a tourist attraction that revolves while it goes up. In 2018, Zemic was commissioned to renovate the lifts. New controls were installed - all special installations.

Complete lift weighing kit

For this project Vebo appointed Zemic as partner. Zemic has three lift weighing sets in its range, based on three different ways lift producers integrate weight determination into the complete lift system. These are complete solutions for measuring the weight under the cabin, under the cable springs or integrated into the cable springs.

Vebo and Zemic explored what would be the most suitable solution for the passenger lifts up to 100 meters and opted for two "under cabin" systems. This was a complete lift weighing kit with 1 ton capacity load cells. Vebo chose this system because it was very accurate and permitted setting parameters that detect the lift’s loading

The development teams at Zemic worked together with lift manufacturers to develop a new and innovative solution for lift overload protection. Physical aspects such as the shape of the load cell, installation requirements and specific market requirements had to be taken into account. Based on this input, three different lift weighing sets were developed.

For this project we chose the "Lift Weighing System: Cabin". This system has the following features:
• Indicates when lift is loaded to 90%
• When the load is less than 15 kg, the lift does not move (child protection)
• Overload detection
• Adjusts engine power to actual weight
• High accuracy
• Four aluminium IP65 compression load cells
• Easy installation, plug and play
