Goodbye Augsburg: interlift leaves the location

News

The interlift 2023 will be the last trade fair in Augsburg: The board of VFA-Interlift and the organizer AFAG have decided that the interlift will be held in another city from 2025.

There is a new location for the next interlift in 2025, which will be held at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center from October 14-17, 2025. The spatial relocation of the world's leading trade fair should enable new opportunities for the further development of the event, according to a press release from the VFA-Interlift. Nuremberg already wanted to present itself as the "new home of the trade fair" in Hall 2 at this year's interlift. The VFA-Interlift would remain the trade fair's technical sponsor, while AFAG would continue to be the organizer. The decision was made in joint consultation with the exhibition advisory board, he said.

"This decision was not easy for us. Augsburg has been a committed and competent partner of the interlift since 1991. With the move to Nuremberg, we are setting the course for further development of the interlift, which is not given at the current location. We are already looking forward to welcoming the elevator world 2025 in Nuremberg, with the proven concept but new potential," said Achim Hütter, Chairman of VFA-Interlift e.V.

"Ideal infrastructure for exhibitors and visitors"

Messe Nürnberg was among the TOP 15 exhibition venues in the world and offered an "ideal infrastructure for exhibitors and visitors," the association emphasized. The interlift 2025 would be housed in Halls 1 to 5 and connected to the two large entrance areas and congress centers NCC Ost and NCC Mitte. With numerous rooms and halls, they offered a wide range of possibilities for lectures, meetings and supporting events, he added.

The Exhibition Center Nuremberg was easy to reach both by car and by train or via the international airport - from Nuremberg Airport by subway in 25 minutes, from the main train station in eight minutes. The wide range of hotels in the city of Nuremberg and in the well-connected surrounding area ensured that sufficient hotel beds would be available even at exhibition times, according to the VFA-Interlift.

interlift to remain in Bavaria

The Augsburg Trade Fair Center had contributed with its infrastructure to the fact that the interlift had been able to develop into the world's leading trade fair, emphasized the VFA. The trade fair location Augsburg and the Free State of Bavaria had always promoted the development of international trade fairs: "That is why it was a matter of concern for both the VFA-Interlift and the organizing AFAG Messen und Ausstellungen GmbH that the interlift should continue to remain in Bavaria," the press release continued.

AFAG Managing Directors Henning and Thilo Könicke saw good opportunities for the future development of the interlift in Nuremberg: "Both the Augsburg Trade Fair Centre and the city and district of Augsburg have offered the interlift a good home for many years and welcomed guests from all over the world with open arms. The industry has felt very comfortable here, yet the move has now become necessary in order to meet increased requirements. It is important for us that the interlift retains its home in Bavaria, also to ensure continued proximity for the many southern European exhibitors and visitors."
